2008 NFL Season [Archive]

February 2 - The Pittsburgh Steelers posted a 15-4 record, including a win in the Super Bowl, to claim the 2008 Rogers Poll NFL Championship. It marks the sixth consecutive season that an AFC team has claimed the title. However, it is the first time since 2002, when the Tampa Bay Buccaneers won, that the Patriots or Colts weren't sitting atop the final rankings.

Including the Steelers, five of the top eight teams were from the AFC. Interestingly, the top two divisions this season were from the NFC. The champions of those divisions, the #4 New York Giants (12-5, NFC East) and the #6 Carolina Panthers (12-5, NFC South), were the NFC's top two representatives.

Filling out the upper fourth of the NFL this season were the #2 Tennessee Titans (13-4), #3 Baltimore Ravens (13-6), #5 Indianapolis Colts (12-5), #7 New England Patriots (11-5), and #8 Philadelphia Eagles (11-7-1).

They were followed by #9 Atlanta (11-6), #10 Miami (11-6), #11 Arizona (12-8), and #12 Minnesota (10-7).
