2010 NCAA FBS Season [Archive]

January 11 - The Auburn Tigers (14-0) completed an undefeated season with an exciting 22-19 victory over the previously unbeaten Oregon Ducks in the BCS National Championship Game in Arizona. The win assured the Tigers both the BCS National Championship and the Rogers Poll Championship. With the loss, Oregon (12-1) slips to #6 in the final rankings.
#2 TCU (13-0) produced the nation's only other perfect ledger outside of Auburn. The Horned Frogs capped their second straight BCS bowl-bound season with a 21-19 victory over the Big Ten co-champions and automatic qualifier, Wisconsin.
#3 Ohio State (12-1) earned a BCS at-large as Big Ten co-champions, defeating Arkansas in the Sugar Bowl. Rounding out the top ten are #4 Boise State (12-1), #5 Stanford (12-1), #6 Oregon (12-1), #7 Oklahoma (12-2), #8 Oklahoma State (11-2), #9 Nevada (13-1), and #10 LSU (11-2). Last year's Rogers Poll champion, Alabama, finishes the year 10-3 with the #13 ranking.
The SEC and Big XII led the way with 5 teams each in the final Top 25. The ACC and Big Ten placed 3 teams each. The Pac-10, Mountain West, WAC, and C-USA each had 2 representatives. The MAC had one. Neither the Big East or Sun Belt was represented.
The #112 Vanderbilt Commodores (2-10) of the SEC are the only team from an AQ conference in the bottom 10. Akron (1-11) ends the 2010 campaign in the unenviable #120 spot.
