NCAA Division I Baseball

June 30 - Coastal Carolina and Arizona State went back-and-forth all year for the top spot in the rankings. With their surprise 0-2 showing in Omaha, the Sun Devils relinquished the position and the Chanticleers earned the 2010 Rogers Poll championship signifying the best overall season in college baseball. Coastal fell as a national seed in the Super Regionals to eventual College World Series champion, #7 South Carolina (54-16).
#3 Virginia (51-14) and #4 Texas (50-13), national seeds that fell short of Omaha, maintained their rankings. #5 TCU (54-14) took #8 UCLA (51-17) to a deciding Game 3 for the right to play in the championship series. #6 Louisville (50-14) was yet another national seed that failed to appear in the College World Series. #7 South Carolina and #8 UCLA dueled in the CWS Championship Series for the NCAA title. #9 Florida (47-17), a CWS participant, and #10 Georgia Tech (47-15), a national seed, round out the top ten.
Three teams from outside the top ten appeared in the College World Series: #11 Oklahoma (50-18), #14 Florida State (48-20), and #21 Clemson (45-25).
The SEC earned top conference accolades and placed 7 teams among the final Top 25, including the NCAA champions. ACC teams appeared 5 times. The Big East and Big XII each earned 3. The Pac-10 and Big South had 2 each. Other leagues represented were the Mountain West, Big West, and SOCON.
